Personal Supports

caregiver discussing about medicine schedules

Personal Supports are services that revolve around the daily living activities and personal hygiene skills such as eating, toileting, bathing, dressing, etc. The service also includes activities such as assistance with meal preparation, bed making, and vacuuming since these activities are essential to the health and welfare of the individual and when no one else is available to perform them. This service is provided on a one-on-one basis. The service will be provided within the scope defined on the support plan. Personal support services shall be provided in the individual’s own home, family home, or in a community activity (if the individual is in one of those living arrangements).

The personal support workers deliver the following services:

  • Providing assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) including grooming, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, mobility (positioning and transferring), and other routine daily activities
  • Providing assistance with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL’s) such as menu planning, meal preparation, and light housekeeping
